An archeological excavation of the Binh Lam tower in Binh Dinh province was started on July 1 on a total area of 600 square metres.
The excavation, which will last till September 30, has been jointly carried out by Binh Dinh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Southern Social Sciences Academy.
Binh Lam tower was ranked as a relic in 1993. Among the Cham Pa towers still existing in Binh Dinh, Binh Lam tower was the oldest.
The excavation is aimed at collecting scientific basis for a project to restore and embellish the tower which will be implemented soon.
