Cat Tien holy land artifacts on show

A collection of close to 1,000 unique artifacts from the holy land of Cat Tien in Central Highlands Lam Dong province are currently on show in Ho chi minh city .

The range of deity statues, worshipping items and jewellery are made from precious materials including bronze, gold, silver, stone and terracotta.

The artifacts have been identified as relics of a system of temples, tombs and towers dedicated to the Brahman religion located along 15km of the left bank of Dong Nai River. They reveal information about the trade history between Vietnam and countries as distant as the Middle East

After initially being accidentally found by local people, the collection was unearthed by officials of the Lam Dong museum between 1985 to 2006.

The exhibition entitled “Objects from Cat Tien- the Imprint of a Mysterious Holy Land” will run through August.
