A Home-made Kite Festival and Hue traditional art kite performance will take place on April 30 and May 1 in Phu Sa Tourism Area in Hung Phu ward, Cai Rang district, Can tho city
The
event, co-organised by Phu Sa Tourism Area and Hue Fine Arts
University, is among the activities in response to the Mekong-Can Tho
National Tourism Year 2008 and to welcome big festivals nationwide
including Hung Kings Commemoration, 33rd anniversary of the South liberation and nation reunification, International Labour Day May 1 and 118th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday May 19.
As
many as 25 various traditional kites, including a 60m dragon kite and a
five coloured bird-shaped-kite 300m long, will be flown under direction
of ten performancers from Hue Fine Arts University at 10.00 to 17.00 on
both April 30 and May 1.
Home-made kite makers are to compete with each other on April 30 to select the best individuals and groups.
