A wine exhibition next Thursday will introduce a variety of Spanish wines, the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office in Hcm city has said.
Each of the 16 wineries from different
parts of Spain will present six different samples of premium red and white
wines, including sweet dessert and sparkling wines, at the one-day event at
Caravelle Hotel, according to chief trade officer Carlos
Dominguez-Agulleiro.
The event will include a wine tasting for
importers and distributors as well as short courses on wine culture for
employees from the service sector. The tasting will be conducted by Ana Laguna,
an enologist from Spain.
Three seminars will be held for
restaurateurs to improve their knowledge of wine storage and tasting, and a
cocktail will bring the exhibition to an end, said
Dominguez-Agulleiro.
Isaac Martin-Barbero, counsellor of the
Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain, said the event, entirely
dedicated to wine, is "an excellent opportunity to explore the richness and
variety of Spanish wines."
Spanish wine tradition dates back 25
centuries ago. At present, Spain has the world's largest area under vine and
one-third of the Spanish wine is exported.
Spain's export value of wine last year
came to US$2.43bil, with Spain now being one of the most competitive wine
producers in the world.
