Ha Long Carnival Set To Kick off

The annual Ha long Carnival, themed “Ha Long Bay – one of the world’s natural wonders” this year, opens later this month.

The opening ceremony on April 26 at the Bai Chay Tourism Zone will feature martial arts performances, music and dance, and a fireworks display.

Organized in the form of a carnival on both sea and land, the event’s highlights will be a dragon dance narrating the amazing “descending dragon” Legend of Ha long bay an orchestra performance at the Dau Go cave, a beauty contest, a fashion show titled “The dance of rocks”.

Six ferries decorated in different themes -- “The legend of Ha Long Bay”, “Breathtaking Beauty”, “The dance of rocks”, “Exploring a unique ecological museum”, “Meeting place of ecotourism and maritime culture” and “The sea rhythm” – will put in an appearance.

An international trade fair and a food festival related to the carnival’s main theme will be held.
 
A festival atmosphere will pervade the streets of Ha Long town with a parade by ten trucks decked up to represent various famous places in Quang Ninh Province -- like Ha Long Bay, Yen Tu Mountain, Tuan Chau Resort and Mong Cai town.

The carnival, to run from April 26 to May 1, has a twin goal -- popularizing the natural and cultural values of Quang Ninh, and promoting its attractions to pull in more domestic and foreign investors.
