Ha Long Tourism Festival to have fireworks

The government has told Quang Ninh province it can let off fireworks at the Ha long tourism Festival on April 26, reports the festival’s organising board.


 

Fireworks were also a special part of the Ha Long Tourism Festival 2007, which attracted many visitors.

 

Quang Ninh is urgently preparing for this event. According to the itinerary approved by local authorities, the key event of the Ha Long Tourism Festival will be the Canarval with a parade from the old Bai Chay Ferry Landing to Ha Long Road.

 

Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh province, Nhu Thi Hong Lien, revealed that the opening ceremony of the Ha Long Tourism Festival 2008 will being arranged meticulously, with a floating stage on the sea and a procession of ships and barges.

 

Major activities will take place at Bai Chay Bridge, Cua Luc bay and supporting events will be held at the Tra Co tourism centre, Van Don, Ha Long and Uong Bi.

 

Many shows by domestic and international art troupes will be organised during the festival, including an art-fashion festival of northern provinces, unicorn-dragon dance show, a classical concert in Dau Go cave, a flag hoisting ceremony on Ha long bay Miss Ha Long pageant contest, an international beach volleyball contest, a bicycle procession, an international trade fair and a food festival. This year’s festival will focus on advertising for Ha Long Bay in the world new natural wonder poll.

 

To date, Quang Ninh has prepared 523 hotels and guest houses totalling nearly 10,000 rooms. The organising board expects that the event, running from April 25 to May 1, will attract around 15,000 tourists.
