Ha Long Week 2008

More than 150,000 tourists to join Ha Long Week 2008

The Ha long tourism Week 2008 will kick off April 24 in Quang Ninh Province. This year’s festival is expected to attract more than 150,000 tourists.

At present, Ha Long City has more than 500 hotels with nearly 9000 rooms, including 4000 luxury rooms for tourists.

The festival will feature many art, cultural and sport activities such as the international women’s beach volleyball competition, the Ha Long International Tourism and Commercial Fair 2008, the Ha long bay Image Exhibition, a painting contest with the theme “Ha Long Bay Natural Heritage” and a symphony concert and fashion show. In particular, on April 26, Ha Long City will be crowded with a carnival atmosphere on the street and the beach.

Since the beginning of this year, Quang Ninh greeted nearly 2.2 million tourists, an on year increase of 132 percent. Of this, Ha Long Bay picked up 784,869 tourists, including 465,925 foreigners with an estimated turnover of nearly 26 billion VND.

The organizing board hopes the festival will attract more tourists to the bay in particular and Quang Ninh province in general.
