The Hanoi Department of Transportation and Public Works has suggested that Hanoi authorities build a street that specialises in displaying and selling flowers in Hanoi’s hub.
The Department’s Director, Nguyen Quoc Hung, said they have proposed turning Tran Nhan Tong road into a street for flowers because it has spacious pavement and is adjacent to Thong Nhat Park.

The flower street would be a place for displaying and selling flowers of Hanoi and other regions, where visitors could walk and enjoy flowers.

Actually, Tran Nhan Tong becomes a flower street every lunar New Year (Tet) when flower growers bring their products to this street for sale before Tet.

If the plan is approved by the Hanoi People’s Committee, the flower street will be developed in two phases, with half of the road put into operation before October 10, 2008 and the remaining section put into operation before the next Tet.

Hung said investment for this street would come from the capital’s budget and contributions from people.
