Ho Chi Minh tourism set for tourism festival

Ho chi minh tourism authority has been preparing for the city’s Tourism Festival 2008, to run from April 18-20, aiming to promote the city’s image as a destination.
The festival will be held at Dam Sen Park in district 11. Themed Southern Land Meeting, the event will focus on upcoming summer tours with travel agencies showcasing their tour packages and deals.

In addition to the exhibition, the festival will have several cultural activities including the Southern Folk Musical Show, and a photo contest titled Hcm city – the Hidden Charm.

The Southern Cuisine Fair will introduce visitors to refined, tasty dishes prepared by high-end hotels and restaurants.

The Vietravel company, meanwhile, will offer a 300,000 VND (18.75 USD) discount on its Central Region’s Heritage Road tour. The company will offer a discount of 3-5 percent on domestic tours and 5-50 USD off international tours.

Themed Gap go dat phuong Nam (Southern Land Meeting), the event will focus on upcoming summer tours.

According to La Quoc Khanh, vice director of the HCMC Tourism Department and deputy head of the festival’s organizing board, “The event aims to market to citizens and foreign tourists dazzling travel destinations.”

“It not only creates a favorable opportunity for businesses to approach their expectant clients but also promotes HCMC’s image and the tourism industry.”

Businesses specializing in travel, transport, hospitality and other related services from 15 different cities and provinces are set to join the festival with some 160 kiosks.

In addition to the exhibition, there will be several other activities including the Southern Folk Musical Show, and a photo contest titled “HCMC – the Hidden Charm.”

The Southern Cuisine Fair will introduce visitors to refined and tasty dishes prepared by national high-end hotels and restaurants.

The festival will also incorporate exciting promotional programs and lucky draws.

The Saigontourist Travel Service Company will provide a 5-7 percent discount on domestic tours and the chance to win a free trip to the US

Ben Thanh Tourist will offer a discount of 3-5 percent on domestic tours and $5-50 off international tours.

Since its inception in 2004, the festival has served as a time to celebrate the anniversary of Vietnam’s southern liberation and the country’s national unification which occurred on April 30, 1975.

The Dam Sen Park is located at 3 Hoa binh Street, District 11.
