Quang Nam targets four million tourists in 2015 - Hoi An Tourist

The central province of Quang Nam has aimed to receive 3.9mil tourists in 2015 from nearly 1.9mil last year, according to the province's overall tourism development plan to 2015.
International arrivals in the province by 2015 will be around 1.45mil, according to the development plan just approved by the provincial government.

Quang Nam is pinning high hope on the tourism sector, expecting tourism's revenue to amount to over VND4.6tril by then, or accounting for over 21% in the province's GDP compared to current 12%.

Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism Dinh Hal told the Daily on Sunday that Quang Nam has singled out five main areas for tourism facility development from now to 2015.

These areas are either coastline areas, or those around beauty spots like the Thu Bon River, Hon Kem Da Dung area, mountainous sites or heritage sites like Hoi an and My.

Hai said that Quang Nam wanted to develop sea and ecological tourism, helping visitors to explore forests and mountains, and learn more about the lifestyle of ethnic minority groups.

Mountainous regions are also important locations for developing overland travel. "The mountain north of the province nears Laos, and another region nears Daklak Province near Bo Y Border-gate are good locations for developing overland travel," he said.

Hai said most tourists are coming to the province for visiting the world heritage sites of Hoi An and My Son, and for relaxing in the sealine resorts. However, the province will have more on offer in 2015, he said.
