A sculpture contest featuring Hoi an ancient town, a world heritage site, is officially launched from now until August, announced the People’s Committee of Hoi An Town.
Hoi An city is getting ready to host Cultural Heritage City , a week aiming to spotlight the city’s culture and customs. The fest, to kick off from March 27, includes a boat race, fine art exhibition and a performance to show off the area’s traditional dress.
Also on the bill is the sculpture contest “Respecting Hoi An’s Cultural Heritage”. Visitors interested in the local culture have a chance to explore craft villages near the town.
Each entrant can submit up to two works and send their entries to the organization by April 15.
The contest aims at honoring UNESCO's World Heritage List and setting up a data bank of best sculptures for displays nationwide.
An exhibition of entries will be held at the Hoi an Museum in September for a public vote.
The contest is one of the cultural activities celebrating the Hoi an Culture and Tourism Week 2008 and 33rd anniversary of the liberation of Hoi An and its upgrade into an urban city.
