On the occasion of the United Nations Vesak Celebrations 2008, Linh Phuoc pagoda in the resort city of Da lat Lam Dong province was added to the Vietnam Record Book as the pagoda with the highest bell tower in Vietnam.
The pagoda was built from 1949 to 1952 in Ward 11, Da lat city Its bell tower is seven storeys, totalling nearly 38m. In the bell tower is a great bell of 4.3m high, 3.3m diameter and 8.5 tonnes in weight, which was cast in 1999 with funds raised from Buddhists nationwide.
The pagoda is outstanding for its dragons and patterns which are inlayed with glazed terra-cotta, using traditional methods.
The pagoda also has many glazed terra-cotta reliefs introducing the history of Buddhism and classical references in Buddhism prayer books.
