Miss Venezuela crowned Miss Universe 2008

Dayana Mendoza from Venezuela became the owner of the Miss Universe crown worth US$120,000 in the final round at the Crown Convention Centre in Nha trang on July 14.
 

First runner-up was Tatiana Vargas from Colombia, followed by Marianne Cruz from Dominica, Vera Krasova from Russia, and Elisa Najera from Mexico.

 

The Miss Friendly title went to Rebecca Moreno from El Salvador, and the Best in Traditional Costume title to Gavintra Photijak from Thailand. They were selected by vote on the NBC website.

 

Nguyen Thuy Lam from Vietnam was also among top 15 finalists.

 

More than one billion viewers followed the final night of Miss Universe on TV.

 

Vietnam’s famous places such as Sapa Hanoi Ha long bay Hue imperial capital, Hoi an ancient town and Nha trang and Ho chi minh city hit the screen throughout the event.
