Wining over 36 contestants, Phan Thi Ngoc Diem was crowned 2008 Miss Vietnam Tourism on the final night of a beauty pageant, which took place at Phan Dinh Phung Competition House in Ho chi minh city on August 2.
Through four competitions: Ao Dai (traditional long dress), swimming costumes, evening dress and interview, Ngoc Diem from south-central Khanh Hoa province won the Miss Vietnam Tourism title. She will represent Vietnam in the 2008 Miss Tourism Queen International.
The prize for the winner included VND100 million in cash, a scholarship to study English and a tour of Europe.
The two runners-up were Nguyen Minh Ngoc Tran and Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao.
In addition, the organising board presented other titles, including “Most Photogenic”, “Best Speaker”, “Best in Ao dai”, “Best in Evening Dress”, “Best in Swimming Costume”, “Miss Congeniality”, Best Performance” and the audience choice prize
Launched in March 2008 by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Asia-Europe Film Studio, the pageant attracted 700 contestants from across the country. It aims to promote cultural traditions and the image of Vietnamese tourism to friends at home and abroad.
