Handicrafts of Thang Long-Hanoi to be showcased

“Craft villages and streets of Thang Long-Hanoi” Tourism Week is to be held from April 27 to May 4 at Thang Long Royal Citadel, Hanoi

During the week, Thang Long Royal Citadel will have a new appearance after being coated with hand-made products representing different craft villages, such as kites, lanterns, palm-leaf conical hats, pottery, artistic stones and fans, Ha Dong silk and Bat Trang bricks.

Folk-arts including water and stage puppetry, “Xam” singing, popular opera, traditional musical instrument performances and folk games will also be organised at this event.

Major activities of the festival are a parade of traditional crafts, drum festival by Doi Tam handicraft villagers, northwestern gong performances.

In addition, the event, initiated by Vietnam’s Handicraft Village Society, is to popularise tourism destinations of the Red River, Bat Trang pottery village, Dao Thuc water puppetry village and Van Phuc silk weaving village.

Exchanges among handicraft villages and tourism-culture and trade sectors also aim to promote tours to craft villages.
