Vietnam Fashion week dresses up capital city

Hanoi - You can sneak a preview of fall and winter trends during the Vietnam Fashion Week in Hanoi that coincides this year with the country’s Liberation Day and International Labour Day.

The week will feature 1,500 designs by a large number of brand and designer names, including Viet Tien, Viet Thang, Phuong Dong, Hanoisimex, Ho Guom and Garment 10.

Models will strut their stuff with modern looks by both veteran and emerging designers, such as Minh Hanh, Viet Lien, Trong Nguyen, Anh Vu and Dieu Anh on April 29.

The collection takes into account cubic forms and volume, discovering and exploiting the depth of men’s and women’s beauty. The creations are brought to life through an intersection of materials, colours and forms.

Viet Tien Garment will dress the stage at 7.30pmon April 29 with haute couture collections by Sansciaro, Manhattan and T-Up for businessmen. Vee-sendy will also take the stage, featuring a collection put together with youth in mind and made with quality materials for active people.

Viet Thang Company will take fashion fans “Walking in Space” on April 30, with a collection of sporty coats introducing the latest brand Burtley.

A favourite name in the fashion industry, Phuong Dong company, will launch five collections with 200 designs made by developing designers Ngan Khai, Huyen Mi and Anh Vu. The funky materials range from typical cotton and denim to extravagant velvet and felt.

Another collection, The Orange Storm from Hanoisimex company, will sweep across the muggy summer heat. After Nosi’s success with their spring and summer 2008 collection, the five autumn and winter collections take on a heavier feel with denim and knit pieces.

Designers from Ho Guom Company will make their fashion-week debut. After working for internationally renowned labels Mango and Zara, Ho Guom’s designers are testing their talents in the domestic market.

Fashion week will wrap up with a show by Garment 10. The company is well-known for its lifestyle-friendly designs and plans to show an affordable collection of long and short coats.

The show will kick off at the International Press Centre, 11 Le Hong Phong Street , Hanoi on April 29.
