In a move to preserve and develop the country’s folk music, the Vietnam Traditional Music Centre made its debut in Hanoi on May 19.
The centre’s activities are to study and collect folk songs and preserve traditional genres of opera such as “tuong” (classical drama), “cheo” (traditional operetta) and “cai luong” (reformed theatre).
The centre will also organise traditional music performances and provide classes for those who wish to learn the folk practices.
