The Vietnamese Embassy in the US attended a cultural fair, one of the activities to mark the annual Asia-Pacific American Heritage Month, in Washington DC on May 10.
Embassies and representative offices from 15 Asia-Pacific countries and territories in Washington showcased at the fair their traditional handicrafts and fine arts, including silk products, knitwear and toys.
Paper fan and lion dances, puppetry and flower arrangements were also performed during the event.
Vietnam’s booth drew much attention from visitors thanks to special handicraft products such as lacquer, puppets, hand-made postcards and DVD disks featuring Vietnamese traditional festivals, landscapes and sight-seeing sites.
Soohyun Julie Koo, Executive Director of the Washington Mayor’s Office, and Office on Asia-Pacific Islander Affairs, highly valued the Vietnamese Embassy’s participation in the important cultural event, describing it as Vietnam ’s active contribution to introducing cultural heritages of Asia-Pacific countries to the US.
