Vietnam’s tourism companies should make more advertising and marketing activities in seaside tourism to the French market, said the president of Interface Tourism to domestic travel agents and tour operators.
At
the two day seminar on three European source markets recently held by
Vietnam Human Resources Development in Tourism Project in Hanoi
Interface Tourism president Gaël de la Porte du Theil said that the
image of Vietnam to French visitors is linked to culture, history,
landscapes and gastronomy.
He
added that the elements that really motivate French people to visit
this Asian country are the cultural richness, authenticity of the sites
and places of interest, beautiful landscapes and kindness of the
Vietnamese people, According to the French tour operators.
However,
he and some French tour operators shared the same view that The
Vietnamese coast remains unknown in France but has big potential with
the current development of the new international coastal resorts.
The
statistics from the World Tourism Organisation shows that to date,
Vietnam is at the third Asian destination for French tourists. The
increase of French tourist arrivals in Vietnam is more than 53% between
2000 and 2007. Only last year did see a record with 182,000 French
visitors.
France
currently ranks eighth in top outbound tours to Vietnam, according to
the data reported by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism
(VNAT). Nearly 47,000 French visited the nation in the first quarter of
this year.
