Paris - Over 40 French martial arts masters attended a two-day training course on Vietnamese martial arts, concluded in Saint-Syr-L’Ecole, France , on April 20.
The course on the Mountain Dragon martial art is held annually by the
International League of Vietnamese Martial Arts-the Mountain Dragon School .
The Mountain Dragon techniques were introduced into France over 50 years
ago by its founder Nguyen Duc Moc in an aspiration that “It makes Frenchmen
understand the sporting spirit of the Vietnamese people.”
From just a
small group of cadets gathering for the training at home, the art has been
exported to a number of foreign countries, especially in Algeria , France and
Switzerland , drawing some 1 million followers.
Alivier Barbey,
President of the International League of Vietnamese Martial Arts, said his
organisation would send a delegation to an international festival on Vietnamese
traditional martial arts scheduled to take place in Binh Dinh province, Vietnam
’s martial arts cradle, in July.
It aims to rivet the connection between
followers and the native land of the martial arts that they are following, said
the top expert.
Prior to the event, an international group of followers
of the Mountain Dragon Martial Arts will pay performing trips to Ho chi minh
City and other provinces and cities across Vietnam.
