US $4.2 billion tourist project starts - most attractive worldwide tourism destinations in 2008
The Canada Asian Coast Development, a high-ranking resort development company started the construction of a US $4.2 billion Ho Tram Strip complex on May 24. The complex was licensed the day before in Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
The Ho Tram Strip complex of 169 hectares is to operate for 50 years.
This entertainment and tourism project was designed by Las Vegas’ Steelman Partners architecture company and will have up to 9,000 hotel rooms.
In the first stage, a resort centre with 1,100 rooms, an 18 hole-golf course, designed by the famous golf player Greg Norman, a casino and other facilities are to be operational by late 2010.
The second phase of the project is to build a high-class resort area with 1,300 rooms, a casino, 10 restaurants and a nightclub, all to be operational in early 2011.
The entire complex is expected to be completed within 10 years.
Early this year, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province gave a license to the US Good Choice Company to carry out the US $1.3 billion tourism project, which covers 155 hectares.
Recently, The New York Times newspaper selected Vietnam as one of the 53 most attractive worldwide tourism destinations in 2008.
As well, Vietnam was ranked fourth in the world as a rapid development tourism destination, according to statistics by the World Tourism Council.
